The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition at Rippon Lea House and Garden

A few days ago, I attended a special preview of the Dressmaker Costume Exhibition. Firstly, I'm going to put my hand up and say I haven't read nor watched the movie so I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that it was an Australian movie set in the 1950's and starred Kate Winslet and the gorgeous Liam Hemsworth.

Boy oh boy was I was blown away?! As I stepped inside the mansion into the exhibition, I totally felt like I was transported to somewhere else in a different period of time. Rippon Lea House and Garden is the perfect location for this exhibition with its beautiful historical architecture as the backdrop. We went on a tour of the exhibition guided by award-winning costume designer, Marion Boyce. It was so amazing to have Marion there talking us through the details and process of designing each costume. We also got the opportunity to chat with the author of the Dressmaker novel, Rosalie Ham. It was really interesting to hear from both Marion and Rosalie on how they brought the story to film.

The exhibition features 50 beautifully designed costumes inspired by Parisian Couture. Each piece of clothing has such gorgeous details and you can just see the high level of artisanship that went into making the costumes. All the costumes were presented beautifully on mannequins and I love how a few of the costumes were modelled on mannequins with rotating bases, so you could really see every single detail of the costumes.

This dress is one of my favourites!!

"I find a lot of fashion totally dictates the way you have to wear it, and I like finding pieces that you can then translate in different ways and reform it in different ways and you can wear it the way you want instead of the way someone wants you to be."- Marion Boyce

I was surprised to learn that the costumes above have a lengthy process of dying and getting the colours right for the set.

Another one of my faves! Will you look at the pleated detail! Worn by Sarah Snook.
I know I have bombarded you with a lot of photos from the exhibition (a picture is worth a thousand words, right?), but nothing beats seeing all of the costumes in person with your own eyeballs. Go and escape reality for a while and be transported back in time to Dungatar. The Dressmaker Exhibition is about personal journeys and transformations. The National Trust of Victoria have really put on an amazing exhibition and you should definitely check it out if you love the movie or the novel. Even if you haven't seen or read the movie like myself, you'd still enjoy and appreciate  the beauty of the costumes. The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition is now open until the 31st of July at Rippon Lea House and Gardens. For more deets, head to the Dressmaker Exhibition Website.

Something I need to do ASAP when I get the time is to watch and read the Dressmaker!☺

Have you watched the Dressmaker movie? Which is your favourite costume?

Natural Acne Control Solution | SkinB5 Review

A is for Acne and is something I wish never existed. Having breakouts and acne make one feel insecure and self-conscious. I don't have acne prone skin but I do suffer from back acne (not cute, I know). I have quite an oily skin, so getting breakouts here and there is inevitable.
I want to share my thoughts on a range of acne control products that I got to trialled. SkinB5 is an acne control skincare range made in Australia. What encouraged me to try this range is the fact that all the ingredients are natural. Some of the products benefits are; they help support skin healing and renewal, helps relieve stress, provides powerful anti-blemish antioxidants, and the Vitamin B5 in the products is proven to be effective at treating the production of sebum- the main cause of acne breakouts. If you struggle with acne or breakouts, I think this may be the solution you are looking for.

Acne Control Moisturiser $22.95

This moisturiser is super lightweight and soaks right into the skin. I was surprised at how hydrating it is and it doesn't leave my skin feeling oily or greasy at all. I use this twice daily, morning and night as recommended. The instructions say to use one pump, but because it is very light I prefer to use two pumps for my face and neck. The combination of ingredients including green tea, Jojoba oil, and Vitamin B5 are what make this moisturiser so lovely to use. It is fragrance-free and it just simply make my skin feel and look nice and fresh.
Acne Control Cleansing Mousse $22.95

This is my first time using a cleansing mousse and I was very intrigued. The cleanser is a bright, orangey- yellow liquid but once you press the pump, the foam comes out. It is a gentle cleanser but apart from that, it hasn't had any effect on my skin. I much prefer a cleanser that lathers well that I can massage into my skin, where I find the foam of this cleansing mousse disappears very quickly. It doesn't remove makeup very well. I always need to use makeup remover facial wipes beforehand. Even using this without any makeup on, I still don't feel that it cleanses my skin thoroughly. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of this cleanser.

Acne Control Extra Strength Tablets $49.95
Acne Control Caplets $39.95

At first, I was very sceptical to take these tablets as I was worried that it might not agree with my body. However since I know that SkinB5 pride themselves on their products being natural with no nasty chemicals and ingredients, I thought there's no harm in giving it a try.
Personally, I found it extremely difficult to take the tablets three times a day because I'm always out and about. For the first few weeks, I did try my best to take them. I like that these tables not only help with the acne, they also help with relieving stress. It has no taste at all and I didn't experience any side effects. I'm happy to report that my back acne is better than before after take them. I'm quite impressed with the results.

Skin Purifying Mask $34.95

Finally, to finish off with this mask in the range that I love very much and will definitely repurchase again and again. The mask contains French green clay, Australian Great barrier Reef sea minerals, bergamot oil, aloe vera, peppermint and Vitamin B5- basically all the good stuff you want to put on your face!  As much as I wanted to leave all the goodness on my face for as long as possible, I love the feeling afterwards of washing it off. My face feels so smooth and baby-smooth. It is a quick treatment that takes only 5 minutes to dry as well as cleanse, purify and soothe the skin. It helps tightens my pores too. It has a subtle herbal smell and feels cooling to apply. I just love how squeaky clean and refresh it makes my skin feel.

Overall, I'm super impressed with the SkinB5 range. If you're battling with acne or breakouts, I'd definitely recommend checking this range out. I love that the products aren't tested on animals, contains no nasties, and most importantly, they actually work!! The pricing is reasonable and all the products are available on the SkinB5 website. Check out their website for more information and to see which products are best suited for your skin.
