How to Be Confident

If you are here hoping that I have a secret recipe on how to be confident, then you are going to be disappointed. Reality is, confidence doesn't just happen overnight. It takes a bit of work. Confidence takes years and years to build but seconds to break. Trust me, I know.

I am a quiet person, that's just my personality and who I am. However, I was someone that lacked confidence most of my teenage years. Growing up and in my high school years, I was painfully shy. Totally socially awkward (still am at times). It was quite hard to get a word out of me. Some teachers loved me for that- the quiet achiever. The only explanation I have for my shyness is that I just had really low self-esteem nor was I sure of who I was.

Although anyone can look confident, not everybody can feel confident. First and foremost, you need to know yourself. Be honest of who you are. How could you ever believe in yourself if you are trying to be someone else? Surround yourself with people that encourages you and lift you up.

Never compare your weakness to someone else’s strength. It will only make you feel bad about yourself. You my friend, need to be content with yourself and be happy of others. Recognise your better attributes will distract you from perceived flaws and boost your self-esteem. Don’t let one negative comment get to you over all the compliments you have received.

We really need to stop worrying what others think about us. Why does it matter? You don’t need other people’s approval to live your life. Accept that not everybody is going to like you. Those people don’t mean anything to you. If they do, they will like you for the way you are. I used to get caught up with what people taught of me. Now? I just don't give a fudge and tell you what.. it feels so darn good to just be myself!

The way I got over my shyness, was to really forced myself to talk to people. At work, I have to deal with a lot of people. Sometimes, even rude and negative people. I slowly learned to speak up and stand up for myself. Now, I can hold a conversation for more than five minutes. Hey, it's an achievement for me.

Take a leap of faith and do the things that you have always been afraid to do. I promise you that once you have overcome that obstacle, your confidence will grow. Everyone experience setbacks, but not everyone gets back up. It’s the getting back up that builds confidence.

You can wear make up, have designer clothes to feel confident but it will only be temporary. It’s about who you are as a person. Be genuine, be nice to others and you will feel better about yourself. I challenge you to give a compliment to a stranger today and see how it make them and yourself feel. Even smiling to strangers helps!

Through lots of practice and hard work, I can honestly say I am now an independent and confident person. I'm not afraid to go up to a stranger. I'm no longer afraid to ask questions. Speaking in front of a room full of people doesn't bother me much anymore. I can go out in public without wearing make-up. I don't care to make a fool of myself. If I can overcome my shyness and be confident, so can you! Just believe in yourself.

What makes you feel confident?

The "Me Time" Tag

I'm an introverted person and I constantly craves for "me time". As much as I love hanging out with my friends and being social, it does take a lot of energy out of me. To keep me staying sane, I love having some time to myself to do the things that I enjoy and relaxes me. We all have things or rituals we do to refocus, reflect and connect with ourselves. It's important to take a little break and give ourselves a little TLC.
This tag was created by the lovely Estée and Amelia. I wasn't tagged by anyone but I thought it would be fun to share my answers to the questions about what I like to do during "me time". Keep reading to find out!
What do you watch or read during me-time?

Nowadays, I rarely watch TV. What I do watch religiously are vlogs. The SacconejolysitsJudysLifeBubzvlogzWahlieTV, and More Zoella are vlogs I watch and follow all the time. In terms of reading, I love reading inspirational or motivational books such as #GIRLBOSS. I also love picking up magazines to gain inspiration. Of course, I like to keep up with reading blogs from other fellow bloggers. I don't even wanna know how many blog posts I have to get through on my Bloglovin' feed at the moment..

What do you wear during me-time? #nobra

Yes once the bra is off, i'm clock off for the day. Sadly, I'm a part of the Itty Bitty Titties Committee, so I can get away with being bra-less. Bra-less, messy bun, makeup free, and in PJs/hoodie is how I like to rock n roll once I'm home.
What are your me-time beauty products?

I've been a big fan of using Lonvitalite face masks and their eye masks are amazing as well. Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Hair Mask for luscious hair and Lush's popcorn lip scrub for some kissable lips.
Current favourite nail polish?
I've recently discovered Sally Hansen's Miracle Gel in 'Games of Chromes' and it's right up my alley. Insert heart shaped emoji times three is necessary.

What do you eat/drink during me-time?
Will you judge me if I say I like to eat ice-cream during me-time? Oh judge right ahead, it makes me so happy. Cookies n Cream ice cream is my weakness. To be slightly healthy, I sometimes often crave Frozen yogurt as well. I also like to drink my "special" teas from T2.
Current favourite candle?
Sorry not sorry but I'm not your typical blogger that likes to burn candles.
Insert monkey with mouth covered emoji.

Do you ever have outdoor me-time?

Now that I live in Melbourne City, I've been loving just strolling around and exploring. I like to people watch- I find it some what fascinating.
Would you ever go see a movie alone?

Is it acceptable for me to go in my PJs? Hmm, I don't think I would. I find it so lonely to go alone. There's something enjoyable with grabbing snacks/ popcorn and sharing with friends. When it's a comedy movie, you can laugh together. When it's a sad movie, there'll be tissues and a shoulder to cry on.
Favourite online shop?
I'm not overly crazy about online shopping but some of the places that tickle my fancy are:
Samantha Wills
The Peach Box
Sabo Skirt
Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?

Other things I like to do during me-time are illustrating or typography. I like to read about celebrities on Wiki too.
I tag:
Ashley | Ashley Sue Makeup
Katina | Katina Lindaa
Sheri | Behind The Frames
Sisi | Modern Beauty Girl
Anjelique | ANJELIQUE
Christie | Christies' Take On Life
Sam | Sam Indigo
Feel free to do a video if you have a YT channel ladies!

What is one thing you love to do during "me-time"?

Another season passed and gone, another 'The Parcel' arrived on my door steps. The Summer Edit parcel had left me quite content and I was expecting nothing less for the Autumn Edit parcel. Once again, I'm happy with all of the goodies that was included in this season's parcel. The Autumn Edit was filled with products to help make the transitions to the cooler months ahead a little easier and smoother. Let's take a look at what was inside!

Garnier Skin Natural Miracle Skin Cream
Garnier Skin Naturals Miracle Skin Cream | RRP $19.95

I'm very intrigued to give this product a go. It claims to auto-adjusts to each skin tone, illuminate and smooth skin, it also has antioxidants to help tackle wrinkles, dark spots and dehydration. Woweee if it does all of that, it will be a miracle product hands down.

MOR Emporium Classics Snow Gardenia Triple-Milled Soap
MOR Emporium Classics Snow Gardenia Triple-Milled Soap | RRP $19.95 (sample)

This is one of those products that I wouldn't mind if it wasn't included in the box. I guess this will come in handy when I'm travelling. It smells quite lovely. Thank goodness, there's a description of how it smells cause I'm terrible at describing scents...
"They combine floral notes of gardenia with sweet almond oil, shea butter and vitamin E to leave the skin feeling nourished and fragranced."

L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream
L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream | $42 (sample)

I haven't tried L'Occtitane products before, but I've been meaning to cause I find the brand quite luxurious. I love trying out different hand creams, so I'm happy that this was included in the parcel. This hand cream is on par with the Soap and Glory hand cream that I love very much. However, I mush prefer the scent of the Soap and Glory hand cream.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes | $3.99

Make up wipes always comes in handy for those lazy days..

Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara
Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara in Black | $23.95

Yesss! Can't wait to try this out. I'm a mascara hoarder and I have a stash of mascaras that I have to get through. I like the sound of "high impact volumising mascara". I shall see if it will give me some va va voom lashes.

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance in Medium
Rimmel BB Cream Radiance in Medium | $12.95

This is a new release from Rimmel. When a products claims to do all 9-in-1 things to the skin, I'm expecting a lot. This seems like a good product to use during the cooler months, as it has a dewy finish. I shall report back of how I get on with it.
Schick Hydro Silk
 Schick Hydro Silk | $14.25

Not sure about you, I usually don't bother to shave during the cooler months. I just don't see the point since I will be in jeans/leggings or pants anyways. Thank goodness I have these shavers just in case I need a last minute shaving to not look like a gorilla.

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating ConcentrateLancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate | $95 (sample)

I'm most looking forward to giving this a go. This is a multi award winning serum that works to repair and reactivate the 10 visible signs of youthful looking skin. Anything to make me look younger, I'm in. My mumma adores Lancome products,so I hope I will like it too.
