Hey pretties! Today, I will be showing you 4 easy and fun hairstyles you can rock for school, work or a casual day out. Back in high school, I wore slightly different hairstyles everyday. My school had an uniform policy. So when it comes to fashion side of things, I didn't need to make an effort. I like to be a little more creative with my hair than just putting it in a regular, boring ponytail. I wanted to be a little bit more unique and different from everyone else. We all love to sleep in, right? At least, I do. So these hairstyles definitely comes in handy when I'm running late. There are easy to whip up but you'll also look cute. Without further ado, here's the first hairstyle..

 I like a good 'twist'

Basically breaking it down, you have two twists- one on each side and a messy bun in the back.
You want to start by having a middle part.
Then with one side, grab two pieces of hair that is closest to the front.
Twist/cross the two pieces of hair over one another.
Now, you want to add some hair to the strand that is on the outer side. (Add hair to the right strand on the right section, and add hair to the left strand if you're twisting the left side of your hair.)
Keep doing this till you get to the back and pin it in place.
Once you have two twists on both sides, you want to gather the rest of your hair and put it in a messy bun and secure in place.
Voila! I often get questioned on how I do the twists because it looks complicated. Try it on yourself and you will see how easy it is. I find it easier and faster than braiding my hair.

Braids for Dayz

This time, you want to have a side part instead.
There are going to be three braid for this hairstyle. However, you can choose to stop and have the rest of your hair out, after the second braid. Your end result should look like the first image, which I think looks quite pretty like that.
Okay, you want to start french braiding. French braiding is regular plaiting but you're going to add hair as you go along and you're going to cross the hair over the middle instead of under. Try not to make it too tight.
You want to make sure you add the hair that is right under the braid instead of following your hair line.
Before securing it in place, you want to loosen the braid. Just use your fingers to pull out the braid a little. This will make the braid really flat and big.
Now with the hair that is underneath your braid, you want to just do a regular braid.
Pin it in place.
For the rest of the hair, I just braided it. You can choose to leave it out or regular braid it for a more casual look.

The Studious Girl

This hairstyle look more polished and neat.
You want to create a little hair bouffant to add some volume.
Then, do a half-up, half-down.
Now, you want to turn your half ponytail upside-down. Simply create a hole and loop the ponytail through the hole. This will create a nice little effect.
With the rest of your hair, fish braid it girlll.
Split your hair into two sections. Then, add a little piece of hair from the left side to the right and vice versa.
If you find the fish tail braid a little difficult to tackle, a regular braid is fine too. ☺

Top knot bun is so last year...

This is my favourite hairstyle out of the four. It's a little bit more unique looking that your average top knot/ballerina bun.
You want to start with a side part, gather all your hair into a high ponytail and secure with a hair tie.
Now comes the tricky part of explaining..you want to hold your ponytail upwards.
Then, wrap the ponytail around your hands. So you should have something that looks a little like a tunnel.
Secure the base well.
Here comes the fun part. Fan out your bun. The bigger the betta!
Use a few bobbi pins to hold the bun in place.
Hairspray your do' like you're attacking a fly! [We don't want any flyaways..no pun intended]

Alrighty! I hope you girls enjoyed this little hair tutorial. These hairstyles are perfect to have all of your hair out of your face. I hope the instructions were easy to follow. Let me know which is your favourite hairstyle.

My High-End Makeup Wishlist!

Hi lovelies! Today's post will be on the topic 4 of the 2014 Blogger Challenge. We were asked to discuss about high-end versus high-street products. I decided to put together a high-end makeup wishlist that I've been lusting over.
Being a full-time Uni student- soon to move out of home, and wanting to travel, budgeting is my game. I can't afford to buy designer clothes nor buying high-end makeup all of the time. Another thing is, makeup is definitely not cheap in Australia. So, I've always opted for using drugstore makeup instead. I've found some great quality drugstore products that I think can be comparable to high-end makeup. Anyways every once a while, I do like to splurge a little and treat myself to some goodies and these high-end goodness that I'm about to mention are on my wishlist to get my hands on one day..

high end makeup
Made on Polyvore

  1. NARS Laguna Bronzer ($55 AUD)- I'm sure many of you know about this bronzer or even own one yourself. I WANT it! I've seen so many beauty gurus used this in their videos and their face looked gorge. It seem like it gave a nice warmth to the skin without it looking muddy or too orange at all.
  2. NARS Orgasm Blush ($45 AUD)- Okay..can we just get over the name first. Nars seem to be great at coming up with some cheeky names for their blushes. Imagine asking someone, "Can you give me an orgasm...blush for my birthday?" Cue the awkward silent! That wouldn't end well..[Side note: yes, that is a very unlikely scenario]. I've swatched this prettiness at Mecca Cosmetica and I was captivated by the beautiful color that it gave. Ugh, I just want to slap it onto my face..
  3. BOBBI BROWN Blush in 06 Apricot ($44 AUD)- Ingrid (Missglamorazzi) and Estee (Essiebutton) had spoke highly of this blush and it looked amazing on them. It seem like a nice pop of rosy apricot color that would also give a nice glow to the cheeks.
  4. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($35 AUD)- Of course, another Nars product. This product in particular have been raved about by many people from both the blogger sphere and YouTube land. It seem like a must have product in every girls' makeup collection. I've heard that it's not only great for concealing under eyes circles but also great for any blemishes that you may have on your face. I need this baby in my life ASAP!
  5. LORAC PRO Palette- I think this palette can only be purchased online in Australia? Not entirely sure. However, this seem like the perfect palette to have. It has beautiful colors ranging from lights hues to darker shades for dramatic smokey eyes. I love that the top row shadows are all matte whilst the bottom row of shadows are shimmery. There are so many different look you can create from this one palette. Perfect for travelling too!
  6. DIOR Lash Pumping Serum- I first discovered this product from the lovely, Meghan Rosette on YouTube. I love the pictures she post on instagram, her eyes always catches my attention. She has really long, voluminous, pretty eyelashes that I envy. Then, she revealed her secret of of her big lashes by using this Lash Pumping Serum. Want Va Va Voom Lashes? Dior is the word.
  7. CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation ($68+ AUD)- Chanel. Drool. Again, heard some great reviews on this foundation. It's a light-weight foundation, which is great. It seem like it's easy to blend out and staying power is also good. Ahh too bad for the expensive price tag. Chanel- 1 Me- 0.
  8. HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Powder ($62 AUD)- This highlighting powder look absolutely gorgeous. I bet it will look even better on the face, when used correctly to highlight different areas. Hopefully if I do purchase this, I'll get my money's worth.
  9. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish ($47 AUD)- Everyone seem to have used it and loved it. It looks really pretty and not too heavy. The powder seemed to be finely milled.
  10. BENEFIT Rockateur Blush ($50 AUD)- First of all, can we take some time to appreciate Benefit's packaging. They're so darn cute and pretty. The  color of this blush is just gorgeous. Helloo, who doesn't like rose gold?! I cannot wait to get this. Give it to me baby, uh huhh, uh huhh!
Let me know what some of your high-end product that is on your wishlist!

Helloo everyone! Did you survive Mondayitis? I actually don't mind Mondays as they mark the beginning of a whole new week of opportunity. Live it! So, I wanted to share an event I went to yesterday- that was called the Supergraph. Supergraph is Australia's Contemporary Graphic Art Fair that celebrates design, print and illustration. In case you didn't know, I'm very passionate with not only fashion but also art and fashion illustration. The most exciting part of the event for me was participating the masterclass with the lovely and talented, Kelly Thompson that was presented by the Jacky Winter Group.
Kelly is a very well known New Zealand fashion illustrator and she's currently based in Melbourne. Her work include: Escada, the London Sunday Times, Covergirl and many more.

I've always admired her work and I love the style of her work. I've followed Kelly on instagram for years now, and to see her in real-life talking about her work was quite exciting. You can really feel the passion that Kelly has for her work by the way she spoke. She went through the process of her illustration [referencing, sketching, scanning..] and how she colored her work in Photoshop. It was very useful and informative. Even though the class went for only an hour, it really inspires and motivate me to get better and better with my own work. Thanks Kellly!

Kelly and I! ☺

My day through these photos....

Megan Hess' Illustrations!

It was great to see other artist's work in the reality and especially those whose work I've admired through instagram.

A couple of cute prints I purchased from Paula Mills from Sweet William. You know me and my tea addiction..

Chilling at the park and even witnessed a wedding!

Went to N2 Extreme Gelato in Brunswick for some delicious Nitrogen Gelato! I got Tira-Miss-You which was coffee custard gelato with a layer of tea soaked sponge, finished with a coffee mascarpone swirl and flaky chocolate. Hmmm..yum!

Overall, was a good day at the Supergraph with my cousin! See you again next year!

Will you be my valentine?- A Valentine's Day Makeup Look

Hello pretties! You know. I know. That Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Whether this day is a celebration for you and your lover or you're part of the single ladies community, it is really just another day on the calender. If you're going on a date with your man, this makeup look is perfect for you. Even if you don't have a date, this makeup look is still very pretty to wear to hang out with your girlfriends. The colours I used for this look screamed romantic to me. It's soft, it's pretty. It'll make your eyes pop. So.. let's not keep your man waiting [if you have one], let's begin!

Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer
Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Pore Minimiser and Mattifier
Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Eraser Concealer
Clinique Stay Matte Foundation
Rimmel Natural Bronzer
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder

A peachy, pink blush will really compliment your eyes!

I used the Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad in Berry Quartz. If you don't own this quad, don't fret. Any similar eyeshadow colors will give you the same results.
1. I started using a pale pink color all over my lids.
2. Then for the ball of my eyelids, I used a more rosy pink color.
3. As for the crease, I used the deep plum color. Start by applying this on the edge of your eyes. Create a 'V' shape. Then just blend, blend, blend! To give you a softer look. I went back and apply the second color again, just to make the eyes look more vibrant.

For the inner corners of your eyes, apply a champagne beige color. Really drag it out to really make your eyes 'POP'. This will make your eyes look awake and bigger.

Now, proceed with applying your eyeliner and apply your favorite mascara. I also used Ardell's Natural Lashes to give my lashes more length and volume and also give it that flirty look. I would recommend using more natural falsies rather than those dramatic Katy Perry's ones.

Finally for the lips, I went with a balm stain in a wearable red color. Using a balm stain is great, so you can smooch all night and still have the color on your lips. No evidence.

There you have it ladies. Whether you'll be going out with your boothang, having a girls night or a party for one, I hope you will have a Happy Valentine's Day or Single Awareness Day! Don't use this a day as an excuse to go all out and spoil your loved ones. Tell your loved ones how much you love and cherish them everyday.

OOTD: Maxi

Hello lovelies! Another week of intense high temperature here in Melbourne. As I'm writing this right now, it's 40 degrees Celsius outside. Seeing the pictures of the snow in New York on instagram doesn't help this boiling situation at all. Anyways, yesterday I caught up with my beautiful friends which I haven't seen for quite a while. Of course, we had heaps to talk about and got up to speed with everyone's lives. What better way to do that than over a nice, delicious dinner at our favourite Thai restaurant. Thai has to be one of my favourite cuisines. Us girls always get a bowl of coconut rice each and the waiter was quite surprise. Carbs?? Pffft!
After a very satisfying dinner, we went to watch the 'Mandela Long Walk to Freedom' movie. We were originally going to watch '12 Years a Slave' but the reviews said that it's a difficult film to sit through and watch people getting tortured... What a legend Mandela was. I learnt a lot from movie about Mandela's life. It was super sad to see how people were treated back  in the day of segregation. The movie pretty much showcased Nelson's Mandela extraordinary journey to freedom and becoming President. Sad movie with a happy ending.

Maxi Dress- Cotton on
Sandals- Vincci
Necklace- Colette

You really cannot go wrong with a maxi dress. Put one on and you're good to go. I absolutely love this dress. It's so comfortable and flattering to wear. I love the two slits on the sides which provide more movement and give a cheeky peek to the legs. Because of the bold colours and prints of the dress, I kept the jewelry very minimal. I love how well the gold feathers necklace go with the dress, which also matched my sandals. Perfect outfit for a summery day or night.

On that note, I'm going to leave you with a couple of my favourite Mandela's quotes:
"It always seem impossible until its done."
"Do not judge me by my successes, judge my by how many times I fell down and got back up again."
- Nelson Mandela

Hello lovelies! The first month of the year is well and truly over and we are now into the month of loveee [Oooh la la]. January was a good month to me. It was the beginning of a new year, fresh start and new goals. Buh bye January, February..please be good! Okay, last month I haven't try anything new. In actual fact, I didn't go shopping at all in January [..a round of applauds please]-That is a record for me. The items that I'm about to share with you all are the things that stood out for me and that I had been reaching for a lot. So, my first favourite item of January is...

BIODERMA Crealine H20 Solution

Yes, it is everyone's cult favourite Bioderma solution. I believe I bought this baby just before January and I fell in love [actually not me..my skin did]. I love how gentle it is on my skin. It gets rid of any makeup or dirt that might still be left on my skin, after I've cleansed my face. It doesn't break me out or make me have any bad reaction to it whatsoever. I know that there's another version of this, that is catered for oily/combination skin people like me. I might try that one out once I've used this up and see if there's a major difference between the two. The only down side to this product, is the expensive price tag. This little baby bottle cost me $20AUD, whereas the full size bottle is $50AUD. I will probably repurchase it when there's a sale going on. I've also heard that there's a dupe for this, which is the Loreal Micellar solution. It would be amazing if it is, so I can save a bit of $$. Overall, been really lovin' the Bioderma.

THE BODY SHOP Mango Body Butter

Mmmmmm...is all I can say about this body butter. No seriously, this stuff smells so amazing and delicious. Mango is one of my favourite fruit and clearly, I like smelling like it too. Mango and summer is just the perfect combo. I like to apply this right after I come out of the shower [if I'm going out somewhere], so the product really absorbed into my skin. It's thick and it's creamy but it's so moisturizing for the body and leave it feeling smooth. There are array of different flavours/scents you can get. You should probably get your hands on one if you haven't already.☺

NYX Blush in Mocha

I've used this blush nearly everyday for the month of January. I absolutely LOVE it! I love how this blush is  matte- so there isn't any shimmers or glitter in it yet it still provide a nice healthy glow. This makes your cheeks look very natural [like you have been running around in the snow..]. It has a nice dusty, rosy pink color, which I think really compliments girls like me who has olive, tanned skin tone. A little goes the longest way with this product. It is very pigmented and if you use too much, you'll end up looking like a clown. Yikes! Very affordable for such an amazing product, really can't fault this.

MAJOLICA MAJORCA Lash Gorgeous Wing Neo Mascara

I did a full review on this mascara a while back so I won't go into detail here. [Check out the review HERE ] To sum it up quickly, I really like using this when I'm doing a very natural makeup look. It lengthens my lashes very well and doesn't clumped up. Great mascara for layering and everyday wear.

Hair care

MACADAMIA Deep Repair Masque

This product is my hair's best friend. It makes my dry, yucky hair into beautiful glossy hair that could potentially be on a hair commercial. I use this once a week and it just makes a huge difference to my hair. After rinsing this out of my hair, it leaves it feeling silky and soft. It really hydrate my hair and make them look more healthier. It smells ahhmazing too [why wouldn't you want to whip your hair back and forth after using this product]! It is on the more pricier side but it is well worth the splurge.

HEALTHY CARE Australia Vitamin C

Okay..this is pretty random but whateves. This is why it is in my random category haha. My father dearest bought me this in the beginning of January and I just have been taking it daily. If you listened in health class at school, you will know that Vitamin C is very good for your health. They have been a few days where I felt a bit under the weather and after taking Vitamin C, I was cured. It just helps boost my immune system and it's a great antioxidant also, among other great benefits from Vitamin C. If it's difficult for you to swallow tablets, you can find ones that are chewable like mine. Apart from Vitamin C, I also take spirulina and fish oil daily. All these supplements make me a happy camper and feelin goood.

I was introduced to this band by my friend and I'm so glad she did. They are amazing! The first song I listened by The Summer Set was Boomerang and I loved it. It's such a fun and catchy song that just make you want to stand up and have a boogie. I've probably listened to this song for more than a hundred times on repeat and still counting... Some of my favorite songs are; Lightning In A Bottle, 7 Days and Mannequin. Definitely check out their music!

That's it for my January favourites. Let me know what YOU loved in the month of January!
