D&Ms with NY : Be Positive!

Hey all! Today i'll be starting my first 'D&Ms' post where if you aren't familiar with what D&Ms is stands for, it's known as deep and meaningfuls. This term is used when you're having a deep and meaningful conversation with your friends, where you chat about absolutely everything and anything from life in general or relationships. I don't want to be the blogger that just talk about clothes or beauty products. My goal is to inspired and motivate others to be the best that they can be and help others by sharing my experience and story. I hope that posts like these benefit you and help you in one way or another. Today's post is about how to be a positive you.

Now, let's be realistic. We aren't always going to be happy all day everyday for the rest of our lives. Yes, that'd be nice but it's the experiences that we gained from situation weather if it's when we are happy or sad that made us change and develop to a better person. I am ashamed to say this, but I was a pessimistic person when i was younger. I looked at all situations in a negative light and always turned down opportunities that were given to me. I don't know why I was like that but I most certainly didn't like the person that I was and I wanted to be happy. With that being said, it's okay to be sad or angry when you need to. You need explore these emotions within you and then, learn to look at the situation in a more positive perspective.

Be around positive people
Negative people will drained you and and take the positive energy out of you. They are the people that never support you and always drag you down. It's important to recognize these people in your life and best to eliminate them from your life. At the end of the day, your well-being always comes first. If you have a friend that is a negative person to be around with, you have two choices; you can end the friendship or you can sit them down and talk to them and hope that they realize their negative behavior is affecting you and changes their attitude. It's harder if you have a family member that is a bad influence for you because you cannot just cut ties with your family. If this is the case, you need to stand your ground and tell them that until they can respect and support you, you are not going to let them influence or give opinions on your life.

Do what makes you happy
Ever heard of the cliche quote, "Do what you love, love what you do?" It is a very true statement. You will never be happy if you aren't doing something that you are passionate about. If you have a dream or ambition, don't ever stop giving up on it. Everyday, make small goals towards it and I promise that you will feel satisfied once you have achieved it. When i'm in a bad mood, I would draw or design and it instantly makes me happy because I want to one day become a fashion illustrator/designer and i'm doing something about it.

Trick your mind to be positive
If you want to be happy, be happy. I know you're thinking it's easier said than done but it is,that easy. Positive self-talk is your best friend. Every morning when you wake up, tell yourself that it's a brand new day and you're going to have a good day. When you're getting ready, look in the mirror and tell yourself that you're beautiful. When you're up and about and something doesn't go your way, acknowledge it and move on. Search for the silver lining. Always look for the positive in a negative situation. Ask yourself, did you learn anything from this? A trick that i always do before bed, is that I'd come up with three things that happened during the day that were positive. It doesn't matter if it's something big or small, acknowledge it. There's an app you can get that's called Gratitude Journal 365, I'd definitely recommend this. You put down a list of things or pictures that makes you happy and you can always look back later and remind yourself all the happy memories that you've captured.

Let it go!
Stop dwelling on the past. The past is the past, you'll never get to relive that moment again. One of my favorite quotes is "Forgive and forget." Don't hold onto grudges, it will only make you more angrier and sad. Forgive the person that hurt you and forget about them. It's not worth your time and there are bigger things in life to worry about.

Keep preaching to be happy and you'll be satisfied with your life. Don't forget to look after yourself, you are what you eat and make sure to exercise regularly too. On an end note, "Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day."

The Diner

Hey everyone! Yesterday was another beautiful spring day unlike today; rainy and windy (that’s Melbourne’s bipolar weather for you). After my 4th driving lesson (yes, I’m 19 and still haven’t got my licence yet…I will get there eventually), I met up with one of my best friends for lunch. We decided to check out this new place called ‘The Diner’.

I felt like we were going back to the 70's with the retro-like interior design. We had a look through the extensive menu and I decided on getting the Ranch Chicken burger with Caesar Salad. Oh em gee! It was so delicious that I devoured the whole plate.
The only thing that would have made my dinning experience here better, would be if the waitress serve us the food on skates like you see in movies. Overall, i will definitely be going back there again. The outfit  i have chosen to wear:

OOTD
Polka dot shirt- Valley Girl
Faux velvet skirt- Supre
Tights- Cotton On
Studded ankle boots- Famous Footwear
Necklace- Paris (A gift from my friend)
Sunglasses- Portmans
Bag- Colette
Nail polish- Vogue Sorbet (from this month's Vogue mag)

This outfit is perfect for girly-girls like me who like to dress up a little but still look causal and chic. It’s also ideal to wear in weather where it’s warm yet windy. Unfortunately, I no longer have the skirt anymore because I left a bag of clothes that I had to bring for a class exercise on the train. Yup, only I would do that. R.I.P my beloved faux velvet skirt, you will be missed.
After lunch, my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to ice-cream from Cold-Rock. We got the Cookies and Cream ice-cream with Nutella and Boost chocolate bar = heaven on earth.

Herro Spring!

Hey everyone! I think it's fair to say that Spring has sprung today. Spring is definitely my favorite season by far. The weather is just perfect, flowers blooming, great fashion trends... However, when Spring comes so does the dreadful hay-fever.I definitely took advantage of today's sunshine by putting this outfit together.
OOTD

Dress- Valley Girl
Necklace- Diva
Boots- Famous Footwear
Sunglasses- Portmans
Belt- MINKPINK
Watch- ELLE

I really like this outfit because it's so effortless. It's so easy to just put on a dress without thinking about pairing it with other clothing. As this was a plain, striped dress i decided to give the outfit a little 'oomph' by adding a statement necklace and a belt. Adding a belt also helps slimming down your waistline thus, giving you an illusion of a more appealing figure. Usually, I would opted to wear a pair to ballet flats but today i wanted to be a little more edgy by wearing a pair of combat boots. It's like a girly-girl mixed with country attire. I love my choice of outfit for today, I mean I got a few compliments on it so that's a bonus, right? :P
