NOTW: It's a fairy-tale...

Hi my lovelies! Today I'll be sharing with you all my NOTW (Nails of The Week). I am someone that prefer to do my own nails as oppose to going to the nail salon and getting them done professionally. I think I've only ever gotten my nails done once, for my debutante ball back in 2011. Doing my nails myself is so much more convenient and cheaper, also the effort I put into doing my own nails makes me feel more accomplished and satisfied. Sometimes, painting your nails with just a solid red polish can be boring, so why not give your nails a bit of finesse with this easy nail look? This nail look reminds me of what fairy-tale princesses would wear. It's simple to create and best of all, there's no nail tools required! Now, let's get starteddd..

What you'll need:
  • Base coat nail polish
  • Your preferred nail polish color
  • Glitter nail polish
  • Top coat nail polish

Before you get started on painting your nails, make sure you prep them first. Cut your nails, filed them to your desired shape, buffed them..you know the drill.

Next, applied a layer of your favorite base coat. This is important as it will prevent your natural nails from staining and peeling.

Now, this is the main part of the nail look. Try not to use any holographic or shimmery nail polishes, just a plain solid nail polish color will do. You are now going to swipe the nail polish wand back and fort on the edge of the bottle, so you are left with a little product on the wand. Applied the nail polish lightly on your nails. Make sure you don't cover the nail polish on the entire nails (leave the end of your nails clear).

This is going to be your second layer. You are going to applied another coat of polish and this time not to worry about swiping the wand but you also don't want too much product on there. Apply this on half way of your nails.

Lastly, put one more coat of nail polish to the tips of your nails. So, you're essentially creating a gradient effect on your nails (lightest to darkest on the tip of the nails).

This is the crucial step. I know, glitter nail polishes are a pain to remove but you will need it to complete the look. Paint a coat of the glitter nail polish onto your nails, or till you're satisfied with how it looks. This step also helps the color to merged together to make the gradient effect stands out more.

Lastly, put a layer of top coat to helps the nail design last longer and prevent chipping and also adds a beautiful shine.

Don't fret if you accidentally get some nail polish on your skin. Simply remove it with a cotton bud and some nail polish remover.

VOILA!! Now you have yourself a set of pretty nails to show off. Wasn't that easy?! The pictures doesn't do it justice, you really need to see the end results yourself. Whether you're going to the upcoming Melbourne Cup, formal, prom or if you're a mermaid wannabe (whatever floats your boat ☺), this nail look is perfect for all you girly-girls out there. You will be sure to get some compliments on them and be asked how to get this design and it will just be our little secret hehe.
